i wonder

i find myself
thinking of you and
your poignant smile
or the smell of your neck
just above your shoulders,
or the gentle warming pressure
of your body next to mine,
or the way your eyes dance,
and the touch of your hand,
or your fight with technology,
and your girly, girly ways,
or your silhouette
in lingerie
and your noisy fan,
so many times,
every day,
that i wonder
how many times
in that day
i failed to catch a moment
when i might have kissed you.

  1. this was written for a woman i dated back in 2000. i can still picture us in bed and the random clicks of her fan. i shared this poem with her and i think it helped win her over.
