Why is it that love
Or all that we attribute to it
Is so ephemeral?
If I could only say the feeling
Lasted for years
Instead of weeks.
Perhaps I’ve had 20 lovers
But so few loves.
And no love lasted the time
My heart did.
So much of love
Is heartbreak
And the heartbreak
Lasts so much longer
Than the love.
39 and wondering just what love is. my understanding of it changes hour by hour, much less year by year.
