Control

Little bits of control
Are slipping away from me.
Its harder to wake up
And eat breakfast
And walk the dog
Before going to work.
Its harder to work.
To do the things
That I’m supposed to do well
And easily.
To talk to the colleagues
I work with
And enjoy my work.
And when I’m home,
Its harder to walk the dog
Again.
And clean the house
Regularly.
And run 5 miles
And workout
For one hour.
It’s easy to drink
And smoke
And write
My little poems
That analyze my life
And my home
And my work
And my friends
And family.
It’s easier to drink
And to smoke
And to write
About my lack
Of control
Of discipline
Of character
Than it is
to work on changing
any one of these things.
