Sometimes I want to run
away from everything I know.
I want to leave the office,
the bills,
the responsibilities.
I want to pack a bag,
throw it into the jeep
and drive.
One tank after another.
See the world
one town at a time.
Go where no one knows me
and be different
at every stop.
I want to laugh alone
on a mountain.
in a cave.
on the ocean.
In a country
where I am just a shadow.
Sometimes I want to run
and never stop.
For if I ever stop
I will remember
the office,
the responsibilities,
the bills.
And I think I can live without them.
i think we all have these fantasies. i think of jack kerouac and ask myself why i can't do what he did.
